press play: Review: “Dark Shades of Blue” is a didgeri-don’t

  • RayJ · 1 year ago
Again, having Kathleen review music is a stroke of genius for the Nashua Telegraph! Whoever is making decisions at the Telegraph is showing that they have their finger on the pulse of the nation and the world.
First, those who review music should know music, to the root.... Kath's background is musicmusicmusic! She DOES know of what she speaks.
Second, the blog format is internet-based communication - accessable to those who are in tune with the 'real' world - not the Faux Newsworld generated by those who worship the dollar each moment... We may just get a real opinion here at the Telegraph.
Thanks, editor - and Thanks, Kathleen!

Dude hes married and has two kids and of course lives on his own. And with respect to the lyric comment on DSOB, He IS the band. Have you ever seen him play? But you are right when it comes to him being friends with Matt M.

Worst review I've ever read. This reviewer clearly has no idea about music.

Great writing. And obviously "Jack " has no idea about writing and the reviewers life experience in music. Great Piece Kath.

I completely disagree. He's a native Australian and the didge mixed with aboriginal canadian sounds make it sound interesting and experimental. It's a great album unless the listener is one of those "bland radio-pop only" sort of people, which you seem to be, judging by the words used on your review of "Home".
It may not be for everyone, and you might want to check out his White Moth recording for a better introduction, but for a fan it is an incredibly interesting listen, because his music is so incredibly adventurous.

By the way, Xavier Rudd plays 14 instruments, so next time you want to knock him, do a little research first.

Being a huge Xavier fan from the first time I heard him, I have to admit that Dark Shades of Blue is a definite departure from his previous work (and after a number of listens is finally growing on me).

For first time listeners I'd recommend you start the way that I did, with his first album 'To Let' and work through his other albums before landing on DSOB, that may give you a much greater appreciation for what an amazing talent this man is.

Plus, if you ever have a chance, take in a live show and you will become an instant fan.

You clearly understand nothing about music. You seem to believe that a song has to be "radio appropriate" and under a certain length to be good. Because you can't think outside of the box, you should not be reviewing music. You should actually start with his older CDs and work your way up to this one, and maybe you would gain an appreciation for his talent. Until then, please do not burden us with your biased reviews

Kath, the song is called "Guku", and so you should worry a little less about Xav having someone to edit his work and edit your own.
And futhermore, do not even try to comment on music you have no understanding of. No-one could understand this CD with just a quick listen as i suspect you have. Xavier's music comes from his heart, and he simply channels his energy through his music, it just flows.
    So just appreciate it love.

    Dear Xavier Rudd fans:
Clearly, you are a rabidly dedicated lot. I was merely trying to inject some humor into my review of someone I have obviously never listened to. I had no idea this would incite such anger and meanness. Hateful comments and personal attacks are not necessary, folks. I was just writing a light review -- not damning Xavier Rudd to hell in a Rolling Stones cover story. So let's all just chill out, please. I did say SOME good things about the CD, after all. Yeesh!

    what!!!!!!!!!!!

you so didnt. you so did put him down. remember the whole bong thing. not demeaning at all

now this isnt putting you down at all but seriously but maybe you should possibly re think this career if you wont even put some effort into actually listening and researching the artist

thanks heaps for putting such a horrible name out there for Xavier rudd

I'm pretty sure that is the worst and most inaccurate review I've ever had the displeasure of reading. kathleen, i won't bother coming after you as it'd be a wasted effort. But WoW...your comments portray you as a moron. It has nothing to do with being a rabid fan it has to do with the infantile nature of your writing. Whoever Andrew is, I hope he cans your ass. You deserve it.
